Basketball Recap: Glenn Comes Up Short

Glenn lost against Davie back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Glenn Bobcats were beaten by the Davie War Eagles 78-51. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the War Eagles are ranked 44th).

When it comes to explaining why Glenn lost, don't look at Kendrick Hines. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Those 18 points gave Hines a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zyire Murphy, who posted ten points and six boards.

Davie had a senior duo take command as Asher Tolbert went 5 of 7 on his way to 16 points and Jackson Powers went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Tolbert. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Driver, who scored eight points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Glenn dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Davie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Glenn will head out on the road to challenge Parkland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenn is facing Parkland at the right time seeing as Parkland is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Davie, they will welcome R.J. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. R.J. Reynolds is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.
