Basketball Preview: Reeves Raiders vs. Fairview Panthers
Reeves has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Fairview Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairview took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Reeves, who comes in off a win.
Even though Reeves has not done well against the Hornets recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Reeves walked away with an 80-70 win over the Hornets. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Reeves relied on the efforts of Christian Williams, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds, and Carter Guillory, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guillory has scored all season. Cameron Cavenah was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-43 to the Eagles. Fairview has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Reeves is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-15 record this season. As for Fairview, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.
Reeves came up short against the Panthers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 68-64. Can Reeves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
