Baseball Game Preview: Kellis Cougars vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos

The Kellis Cougars will face off against the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Kellis has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Kellis is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 16 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Buckeye on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hawks, falling 19-1.

Dylan Giddens put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Giddens was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Giddens wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Bigalke, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Joya Community, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Fairfax on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Fighting Lobos as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Carlos Maldonado, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Efren Bolanos was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.

Kellis' loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for La Joya Community, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
