Football Recap: Eaton Comes Up Short

Eaton extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were beaten by the Valley View Spartans 48-10. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the Spartans are ranked 85th).

As for Valley View, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season so far.

Brody Gibbs was his usual excellent self, rushing for 135 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while also throwing for 130 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten passes. What's more, he posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anthony Valenti, who rushed for 62 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eaton will welcome Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Mohawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Valley View, they will take on Oakwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lumberjacks' defense has only allowed 11.4 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
