Basketball Recap: Lake Havasu Takes a Loss

Lake Havasu was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs 89-33. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Mustangs are ranked 135th).

Despite the loss, Lake Havasu had strong showings from Zacharee Bennetch, who posted nine points, and Emerson Kuch, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Sunrise Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden Hammond led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Marcus Murray was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and four steals.

Lake Havasu's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Havasu will square off against Ironwood at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will face off against Notre Dame Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
