Softball Recap: Apollo Comes Up Short

Apollo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 14-3 to the Valley Vista Monsoon. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered against the Monsoon since February 27, 2016.

Fernanda Barrera Prudente was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Leon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Apollo's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Valley Vista, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.

Looking ahead, Apollo will welcome Pinnacle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Valley Vista, they will head out to take on West Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
