Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cleveland Central

Cleveland Central proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Yazoo County Panthers 9-8. The win was nothing new for the Wolves as they're now sitting on three straight.

Taliyah Thomas and Makenah Jefferson did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Jefferson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in stolen bases. Stella Rose Cartwright was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Cleveland Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Yazoo County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cleveland Central will square off against Lake Cormorant at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Yazoo County, they will challenge Ridgeland at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Yazoo County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
