Softball Game Preview: Breathitt County Bobcats vs. Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs

Everything went their way against Buckhorn on Wednesday as Hazard made off with an 11-1 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Baylynn Roll spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Maggie Combs and Peyton Fields did most of the damage at the plate: Combs scored two runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2, while Fields scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Combs has posted since back in April of 2024. Ryleigh Griffith was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hazard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Breathitt County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hazard, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
