Basketball Game Preview: Gilroy Mustangs vs. Leland Chargers

The Gilroy Mustangs will challenge the Leland Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gilroy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost 75-49 to St. Francis on Saturday. The Mustangs were down 60-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, Leland had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 84-67 win over the Cardinals.

Leland's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for Gilroy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Gilroy came up short against Leland in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 57-45. Can Gilroy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
