Softball Recap: Ganado Comes Up Short

The Ganado Hornets lost 23-6 to the Winslow Bulldogs on Monday.

Shelby Lee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anisa Esparza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lee wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Ganado kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Ganado: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

Ganado's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Winslow, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Ganado will take on Window Rock at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Window Rock has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.31 runs per game on average), something Ganado will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Winslow, they will challenge Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
