League recap: Platte Canyon stuns Jefferson in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Platte Canyon, who took down 138th ranked Jefferson, 20-0. Hank Bode ran for 105 yards and caught 2 passes for 25 yards during the win.

The Huskies scaled the state rankings by moving to 143 from 169 this week, the biggest jump in 1A Metro. Platte Canyon climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Saints 20-0.

Tanner Matoba provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Front Range Christian defeated Denver Christian. Matoba's key target this week was Braidon McLean, who caught 2 passes for 10 yards.

Frankie KellerTwigg was a key player and the best on defense this week as Estes Park defeated Clear Creek. He forced 1 fumble, recorded 2 fumbles and racked up 2 sacks.

Matoba was a force in the backfield as the Falcons beat the Crusaders.

KellerTwigg put up the best numbers through the air as the Bobcats topped the Golddiggers. He finished with a total of 7 completions for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. KellerTwigg's favorite target this week was Nick Burreson, who caught 2 passes for 50 yards.

Jefferson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cameron Washburn has thrown for 1,210 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Lawrence Salazar has 18 catches for 571 yards.

Jefferson's Jovanni Lucero needs only 56 yards against Estes Park next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Lucero has rushed for 944 yards on 107 carries so far this year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lyons takes on Mike Schmidt's team. At the moment, the Lions are in first, while the Huskies are in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lyons takes on Platte Canyon. Brandon Wilkes' team has allowed 46 points this season, while the Huskies have given up 60. The Lions allowed 0 points last week as they beat Nederland.

Lyons added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Panthers, 21-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Lions.
