Football Game Preview: Troy Warriors vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares + How To Watch

Two dominant backs in Ethan Mundt and Noah Penunuri are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Troy Warriors will square off against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Troy sitting on nine straight victories and Rio Hondo Prep on 11.

Troy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Orange as they made off with a 49-27 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Troy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Mays, who threw for 161 yards and three TDs on only seven passes, and also rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Noah Tapia, who picked up 141 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Troy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Troy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Torosian and Mason Avey. Troy received some extra help from Mundt, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Rio Hondo Prep didn't have too much trouble with Thousand Oaks on Friday as they won 50-34.

Troy's record is now 10-1. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their record now sits at 11-0.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Troy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 261.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rio Hondo Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 281.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
