Basketball Game Preview: LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers vs. Pontiac Indians

The LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers will take on the Pontiac Indians in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaSalle-Peru will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, LaSalle-Peru made off with a 57-56 victory over Rock Falls. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cavaliers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Rockets are ranked 94th).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Pontiac ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 54-45 victory over Peoria Notre Dame. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

LaSalle-Peru has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Pontiac, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

LaSalle-Peru didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Pontiac when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-60 victory.
