Westwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 20-4 walloping at the hands of the Sebastian River Sharks. That's two games in a row now that Westwood has lost by exactly 16 runs.
Michaela Thomas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Montes, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
On Sebastian River's side, Whitney Villars was incredible, going 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Sebastian River, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-10.
Westwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
