Softball Recap: El Modena Comes Up Short

El Modena fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against La Habra on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Highlanders by a score of 8-6. The Vanguards were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Highlanders earlier this season, when they won 9-6.

Brooklyn Calderon made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Savala, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for El Modena and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for La Habra, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

Coming up, El Modena will square off against Cypress at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Centurions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Vanguards' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for La Habra, they will head out on the road to challenge Pacifica at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
