Volleyball Game Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Whitney Wildcats + How To Watch

The Rocklin Thunder will challenge the Whitney Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rocklin will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.

On Monday, Rocklin got the win against Davis Sr. by a conclusive 3-0.

Rocklin never let Davis Sr. on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-14.

Rocklin can attribute much of their success to Ava Pabalate, who had 23 assists. Allison Hartsoch also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Rocklin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Whitney hadn't done well against Granite Bay recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Grizzlies 3-2. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Grizzlies on their court since October 18, 2022.

Whitney was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Whitney's win bumped their record up to 9-17. As for Rocklin, their victory bumped their record up to 29-4.

Everything went Rocklin's way against Whitney in their previous meeting back in September, as Rocklin made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Thunder have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
