Softball Game Preview: Providence Athletic Club Panthers vs. Swansea Tigers

Atalie Gauntt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 18 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bridget Kean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaylin Otey, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Swansea unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Williston-Elko by a score of 10-8 last Monday.

Providence Athletic Club pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Swansea, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
