Basketball Recap: Lake Nona Lions vs. Freedom Patriots
The Lake Nona Lions came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 42-28 win over Freedom on Thursday. That looming 42-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lake Nona yet this season.
Lake Nona found their leader in underclassman Nadeen Elgamal, who scored ten points.
Lake Nona's win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-12. As for Freedom, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.
Lake Nona will take on the Eagles at TBD on Monday. Poinciana has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Freedom will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Patriots on February 5th. Lake Brantley has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 11.
