Baseball Recap: Duncan Mccann's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Joaquin over Gary

Joaquin was the 4-0 winner over Gary when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Joaquin Rams wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered against the Bobcats since April 7, 2017.

Brennan Kilpatrick was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Joaquin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Duncan McCann, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that McCann hit this season.

Joaquin has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. The win snapped Gary's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Joaquin will challenge Timpson at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpson's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Joaquin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gary, they will square off against West Rusk at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Gary 3.2, West Rusk 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
