Basketball Recap: Walton-Verona Comes Up Short

After flying high against Grant County last Thursday, Walton-Verona came back down to earth. The Walton-Verona Bearcats fell just short of the Holy Cross Indians by a score of 60-57 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bearcats have suffered since December 27, 2024.

Walton-Verona's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Walton-Verona Bearcats take on the Gallatin County Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Holy Cross, they will challenge Notre Dame Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Cross knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Notre Dame Academy likes a good challenge.
