Basketball Recap: Cole Frailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westwood over Dobson

Westwood lost against Dobson back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Westwood Warriors took a 50-36 bruising from the Dobson Mustangs. The Warriors' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Westwood's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Frailey, who posted ten points. What's more, Frailey also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Ike Tingey was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Dobson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julian Acereto, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Acereto has become a key player for Dobson: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 8-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was J'Din Menton, who earned nine points.

Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Dobson, their record is now 10-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will square off against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westwood is facing Skyline at the right time seeing as Skyline is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dobson, they will face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
