Baseball Recap: Montgomery Comes Up Short

Montgomery came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Point Loma Pointers, falling 13-6. The Aztecs have struggled against the Pointers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Marco Reyes and Noah Flores stepped up to the plate in a big way. Reyes scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Flores scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Cesar Abdul also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Montgomery now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Point Loma, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Montgomery will take on Mater Dei Catholic in a tournament on Monday. As for Point Loma, they will be taking part in a tournament against Torrey Pines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Torrey Pines will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Point Loma surely won't give up without a fight.
