Baseball Recap: Rock Ridge Co-Op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia]'s Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They beat the Ely Timberwolves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Wolverines sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Will Kemp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tyler Reid was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Ely, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
