Baseball Game Preview: Avenal Buccaneers vs. Mendota Aztecs

Avenal hasn't had much luck against Mendota recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Buccaneers are taking a road trip to face off against the Aztecs at 4:00 p.m. Avenal has given up an average of 17.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Avenal is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Firebaugh, falling 15-3.

Avenal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marco Abundiz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Jeremiah Rubio also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Mendota's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 10-5 to Coalinga.

Avenal's loss dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Mendota, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.
