Volleyball Recap: Calipatria Comes Up Short

Calipatria and St. Joseph Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Calipatria had to settle for second. They came up short against the Crusaders, falling 3-0. The Hornets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While Calipatria ultimately came up short, they really made St. Joseph Academy work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-10, 25-15.

St. Joseph Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Fontaine, who had 13 digs. Fontaine is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Calipatria's loss dropped their record down to 16-14. As for St. Joseph Academy, their victory ended a four-match drought at home and bumped them up to 11-22.

Calipatria does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will take on The Cambridge School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
