Football Recap: Meeker Takes a Loss

Meeker had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it four. They came up short against the Luther Lions, falling 34-14. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Lions since Friday.

Although Meeker took the loss, they still got scores from Ashton Tunget and Gunnar Enochs.

As for Luther, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly 20 points.

Maurtice Wright was his usual excellent self, rushing for 218 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.6 yards per carry, and also catching one score. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Xadrian Bellows, who threw for 62 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Looking ahead, Meeker will head out on the road to face off against Stroud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Luther, they will face off against Kellyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Ponies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
