Softball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way East Griffins vs. Beecher Bobcats

The Lincoln-Way East Griffins will head out to challenge the Beecher Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lincoln-Way East 1.6, Beecher 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lincoln-Way East is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since May 16, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Andrew by a score of 5-3. The loss was the Griffins' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Beecher strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Pontiac, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since April 14th.

Ava Lorenzatti spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makenzie Johnson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Ava Olson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lincoln-Way East fell to 16-1. As for Beecher, they pushed their record up to 21-0 with the victory, which was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lincoln-Way East suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Beecher in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Griffins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
