Basketball Recap: Sandy Creek Takes a Loss

If Sandy Creek was feeling good fresh off their 65-41 takedown of Fairbury last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sandy Creek Cougars took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sutton Mustangs. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Sandy Creek lost on Thursday, don't look at Kamerin Sealey. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Shaw, who scored 11 points and five boards.

Sutton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aidan Jones out in front who put up 15 points and seven rebounds. Jacob Huxoll was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Sandy Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Sutton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-3.

Sandy Creek has already played their next match, a 56-33 victory against Superior on the 3rd. As for Sutton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 35-32 loss against Milford on the 4th.
