Basketball Recap: Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning Drops Highest Score of Season Against Pine Hills Adventist

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They received a blow as they fell 53-37 to the Pine Hills Adventist Eagles. The Fire Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Pine Hills Adventist was led to victory by Brennan Reese and Luke Childers. Reese went 11 for 19 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks, while Childers went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Reese has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Gatling, who posted five points along with six boards and five assists.

Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Pine Hills Adventist, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning will take on Lindhurst in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at. As for Pine Hills Adventist, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chesterton Academy of Sacramento at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
