Soccer Game Preview: Arroyo vs. Mt. Eden

The Arroyo Dons are taking a road trip to face off against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Arroyo is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Bishop O'Dowd on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Dragons.

Meanwhile, Mt. Eden hasn't lost a match since December 20, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Tuesday. They beat Piedmont by a goal, winning 3-2. Given the Monarchs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Highlanders are ranked 627th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arroyo's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6-2. As for Mt. Eden, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3-5 record this season.

Arroyo came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in December of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arroyo since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
