Softball Game Preview: Gosnell Pirates vs. Wynne Yellowjackets

The Gosnell Pirates will head out to challenge the Wynne Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Gosnell's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Wynne's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gosnell came up short against Brookland on Thursday, falling 9-2. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly seven runs.

Gosnell saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Claire Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wynne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Marion.

This is the second loss in a row for Gosnell and nudges their season record down to 8-4. As for Wynne, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Everything went Gosnell's way against Wynne in their previous matchup back in March of 2019, as Gosnell made off with a 9-2 victory. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellowjackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
