Maranacook is 3-0 against Winthrop since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Maranacook Black Bears will face off against the Winthrop Ramblers at 6:30 p.m.

Maranacook is headed into Wednesday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They took a hard 62-45 fall against Spruce Mountain on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Black Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Phoenix are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Winthrop entered their tilt with Lisbon on Monday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They blew past the Greyhounds, posting a 77-22 win. The Ramblers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Winthrop's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Maranacook, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Maranacook came out on top in a nail-biter against Winthrop in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 35-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maranacook since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
