Baseball Recap: St. Augustine Comes Up Short

St. Augustine was the 11-10 winner over Bartram Trail when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Bartram Trail Bears by a score of 7-5 on Thursday.

Drew O'Quinn made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Xavier Ahr also deserves some recognition as he hit his first hit of the season.

St. Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bartram Trail, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Looking ahead, St. Augustine will welcome Nease at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Augustine's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Nease's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bartram Trail, they will head out on the road to take on Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
