Baseball Recap: Houston Math Science & Tech Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Houston Math Science & Tech faced off against Nimitz on Saturday. The Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers walked away with a 5-1 win over the Nimitz Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The team relied heavily on Omar Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Mario Leija was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

Houston Math Science & Tech's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-1-1. As for Nimitz, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Houston Math Science & Tech has already played their next game, a 7-3 win against Rice Consolidated on the 1st. As for Nimitz, they will square off against Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Nimitz: they have been struggling with nine straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Heights has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
