Mercedes had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Donna North on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Aleeyah Sierra made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Abigail Trevi?o was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Josie Alvarado, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Mercedes is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Donna North, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercedes will face off against Edcouch-Elsa at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
