Recap: Morrill Lions vs. Garden County Eagles
After losing to the Garden County Eagles the last time they met, the Morrill Lions decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Morrill had just enough and edged Garden County out 35-32.
Morrill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pittman Ashwin led the charge by scoring 16 points along with 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Wyler Fisher, who scored 9 points along with 13 rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyland Lobner, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Lobner is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Morrill's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Garden County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morrill will square off against Kimball at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kimball focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Garden County, they will head out on the road to face off against Crawford on Saturday. Crawford will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
