Basketball Game Preview: Marion Center Stingers vs. River Valley Panthers

Last Saturday, Marion Center came up short against Clarion Area and fell 66-53. The loss continues a trend for the Stingers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost five in a row.

Marion Center's defeat came about despite a quality game from Cameron Pack, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 15 points and six assists. Pack has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Ian Kutsch was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, River Valley suffered their biggest loss since November 29th on Saturday. They came up short against Summit Academy, falling 76-51. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Knights are ranked 620th).

River Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Marion Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
