Recap: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. Oak Grove Grizzlies
The Asheboro Blue Comets struggled with assists on Friday (the Oak Grove Grizzlies had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Asheboro took a serious blow against Oak Grove, falling 80-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Asheboro has scored all season.
Kimry Comer was Asheboro's leading scorer, having posted five points.
Sion Murrain held things down on the boards with four rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Trista Charles continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Oak Grove, dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Charles' 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kalin Favreau, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Asheboro's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-11. As for Oak Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Asheboro will take on Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Davidson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Asheboro in North Carolina (Central Davidson is ranked 146th, while Asheboro is ranked 423rd). As for Oak Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against North Davidson at 6:00 p.m.
