After a string of six wins, Piedmont Hills's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Overfelt Royals by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Royals are ranked 753rd).

Piedmont Hills was without their leading scorer, Jordan Diaz, in Friday's contest. With Diaz sidelined, Omkar Dalal got his first action of the season.

Piedmont Hills' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2-2. As for Overfelt, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Piedmont Hills will face off against Prospect at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Overfelt, they will challenge Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Overfelt is facing Oak Grove at the right time seeing as Oak Grove is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
