Basketball Preview: Hicksville Aces vs. Antwerp Archers
Hicksville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Antwerp Archers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Hicksville was beaten by the Rams 58-24. While losing is never fun, Hicksville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 693rd, while the Rams are ranked 255th).
Despite the defeat, Hicksville saw an underclassman step up: Kennedy Adams scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Antwerp's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 48-25 defeat at the hands of Ayersville. Antwerp was down 38-18 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Hicksville dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Antwerp, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Hicksville took a serious blow against the Archers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 61-32. Can Hicksville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
