Basketball Recap: Abundant Life Academy Takes a Loss

Abundant Life Academy lost against Atlantic Christian back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Abundant Life Academy took a 36-21 bruising from the Atlantic Christian Cougars.

Despite the defeat, Abundant Life Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jaelle Vital posted ten points and seven rebounds. Yohanah Morvan was another key player, putting up three points along with eight boards and four steals.

It was another big night for Gianna Flynn, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds for Atlantic Christian. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Flynn has scored at least a third of Atlantic Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Sutton, who had two points and 11 rebounds.

Abundant Life Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Atlantic Christian, the victory got them back to even at 4-4-1.

Abundant Life Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Faith Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Abundant Life Academy's defense has only allowed 25 points per game this season, so Faith Christian Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Atlantic Christian, they will host King's Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
