Baseball Recap: Pleasant Grove Takes a Loss

After flying high against Indian Springs last Thursday, Pleasant Grove came back down to earth. The Spartans took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Warriors on Saturday.

Zion Barney was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Pleasant Grove: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Amaury Webster, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Pleasant Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Wilson, their record now sits at 10-19.

Coincidentally, Pleasant Grove and Wilson will both be playing Oneonta the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the Redskins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Warriors will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
