Baseball Recap: La Porte Wins Going Away Against Lowell

La Porte won the last time they faced Lowell and things went their way on Saturday too. The Slicers were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Red Devils. The win was some much needed relief for the Slicers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Joey Kirk spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Raymond, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of La Porte's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 3-1 (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brody White, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: La Porte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

La Porte's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Lowell, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12-1.
