Basketball Recap: High Plains Comes Up Short

High Plains has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Dorchester Longhorns. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Storm this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 29-26 back in December of 2024.

Several Storm players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gahvrielle Lesiak, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Rylee Ackerson was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

High Plains' loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Dorchester, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.

High Plains will take on Elba at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Dorchester has already played their next match (against College View Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
