Basketball Game Preview: Thunder Ridge Titans vs. Canyon Ridge Riverhawks

The Thunder Ridge Titans will head out to face off against the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Thunder Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Thunder Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 82-57 margin over Pocatello on Wednesday.

It was another big night for Deegan Branson, who went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. Max Haycock was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Thunder Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Canyon Ridge came up short against Rigby on Friday and fell 63-53. While losing is never fun, the Riverhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Trojans are ranked 34th).

The victory got Thunder Ridge back to even at 9-9. As for Canyon Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Thunder Ridge took their win against Canyon Ridge in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 56-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thunder Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
