United is 8-2 against Wellsville since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Golden Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (United has five straight victories, Wellsville has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
United's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Southern. Considering the Golden Eagles have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Parker Newburn made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Quentin Taylor was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Kadin Schonauer was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
United hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Wellsville lost 12-4 to Catholic Central on Thursday.
Wellsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Ramsey, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another was Austin Watkins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
United pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Wellsville, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. United has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wellsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
United took their win against Wellsville in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-1 score. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
