Basketball Game Preview: Eastview Lightning vs. Eagan Wildcats

Eastview and Eagan are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but not for long. The Eastview Lightning will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Eagan Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Eastview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Eagan likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Eastview strolled past Farmington with points to spare, taking the game 55-39. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Tigers are ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Eagan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 47-43 to Prior Lake. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Eastview pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points per game. As for Eagan, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Eastview was able to grind out a solid win over Eagan in their previous meeting last Friday, winning 61-50. Does Eastview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eagan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
