Volleyball Game Preview: McCurdy Bobcats vs. Escalante Lobos

The McCurdy Bobcats will head out to challenge the Escalante Lobos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McCurdy has five straight victories, Escalante has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

It was a proper cat-fight when McCurdy took on Questa on Thursday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wildcats.

McCurdy never let Questa on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-19.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Escalante and Mora, and Mora kept the tradition alive. The Lobos took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rangers/Rangerettes on Thursday. While the Lobos didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rangers/Rangerettes 25-21 in the first set.

Escalante started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-16, 25-14, 28-26.

McCurdy's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Escalante, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

McCurdy skirted past Escalante 3-2 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Lobos' Peyton Gallegos, who had 35 digs. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Bobcats still be able to contain Gallegos? There's only one way to find out.
