Softball Recap: Thomas Stone Takes a Loss

Thomas Stone extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 5-7. They lost 13-3 to the Patuxent Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 8-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Amani Shields made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for Patuxent, the victory got them back to even at 5-5. Considering they have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Patuxent's side, Hannah Bruno was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Bruno was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Addison Denton was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Jasmine Somerville was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Thomas Stone will host McDonough at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.7 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Patuxent, they are taking a road trip to take on Leonardtown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
