Basketball Recap: Dolores Takes a Loss

Dolores lost against Ridgway back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Dolores Bears took a 73-56 bruising from the Ridgway Demons. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Dolores saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Koby McClellan posted 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Rantz, who put up ten points and three steals.

It was another big night for Henry Deppen, who went 12 for 18 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards for Ridgway. Those 24 points gave Deppen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isaac Baskfield, who had 17 points and five rebounds.

Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Ridgway, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Telluride the next time they take the court. Dolores will head out to face Telluride at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Ridgway will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
